MINI REVIVAL IN REGIONAL STEEL PRICE INDEXES THIS MONTH.

One third of the MEPS regional steel price indices moved upwards in May. The best performing products were those used in the construction sector. This does not reflect a turn-round in this industry, however. The steel price gains occurred in the long products' categories, mainly in the EU and Asia and were the result of higher scrap costs as modest shortages developed.
